Signs of Attention Deficit Disorder Add/Adhd in Adults

Although thought of as a childhood disorder Add and Adhd does not go away in adulthood.   You either learn to control it's effects or it effects you.   Adults get less hyperactive as they age.  But, the attention deficit is still there.  It becomes your personality.  As Billy Joel put it " An Angry Young Man".  Add/Adhd symptoms can mimic life.  Everyone may show some sign of each of them at times in their life.  An Adult with Attention Deficit Disorder will show more than s few symptoms all the time.

Here are some signs of ADD Attention Deficit Disorder in Adults.

Impulsive
Easily Distracted
Angry outbursts
Lateness
Procrastinate
Losing things
Unorganized
Poor listening skills
Marital problems
No motivation
Addiction
Lack of focus
Trouble getting up
Recklessness
Traffic accidents
Finishing a task
Forgetful
Non stop talking
Interrupting
Poor communication skills
Slow to understand

Years of not dealing with Add could lead to other problems that only make things worse.

Unknowingly self medicating addictions : caffeine, sugar, over eating, drugs, sex and yes even rock and roll.  That's why my happy place is a Rock And Roll fantasy world.

Depression, anxiety, panic, stress, as well as physical problem all these things may bring on as one gets older.

It's a tangled life we lead.  You either deal with it or you don't!

ADD /ADHD or Selfishness?

I had my clothes in the dryer and a second load in the washer.   Someone came in to wash their clothes.

I awoke to one load of my clothes dry lying on top of wet clothes.

It seems that someone couldn't wait for my clothes to dry and bypassed them.  But, never put my wet clothes back in the dryer when they were done.

Of course I found out first thing in the morning, before taking my meds. Barely awake, I went on a rant.  Hell if I was going to be late for work because of someone else why should they sleep.  Of course I knew who did it, yet I wasn't thinking about the people in the house.

Impulse had taken over and my anger came out as fast as you could say morning.  Notice I didnt say good morning.  There was nothing good about it.

Now it's 7am and the whole house is up and mad at me.  I didn't leave wet clothes lying under dry clothes all night, or did I.

Whose fault was it?  My ADD / ADHD or her Selfishness?

I'm the one who impulsively exploded waking everyone up. Besides the fact that I'm the only male in a house with 5 females.

Who do you think got all the blame.  ADD /ADHD is a two way street.  It takes everybody's effort to look out for each other.  Think of how the other person is going to react.  And then do those things that will not cause trouble.

Oh wait, isn't that just compromising with the people you live with something everyone should do?
